Mayle Breaks Shutout in Second Half

Vote for Issue 37 - School Levy AdThe Leopards found life early in the second half when Maddox Mayle broke the shutout with 29:56 remaining. After Brandon Sanders stole the ball deep in the Louisville defensive end, he sent a lead pass ahead to Mayle near midfield. Mayle side-stepped a Viking defender and sprinted into open space down the right flank. From the edge of the penalty box, Mayle fired a low shot through the legs of a defender and past the diving Akron North goalkeeper into the left side of the net—cutting the deficit to 3-1.

Akron North Builds 3-0 First-Half Lead

Akron North wasted no time taking control of the match, scoring three goals in the final 20 minutes of the first half. Mmunga Almasi opened the scoring off a setup from Munga John with 20:37 left before halftime. The roles reversed moments later as John scored back-to-back goals—first off an assist from Marcos Melara, then again with 3:34 left in the half on a feed from Avinash Mongar—giving the Vikings a commanding 3-0 advantage at the break.

Vikings Pull Away Late

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdJust eight minutes after the Leopards’ only score, Akron North regained a three-goal cushion when Mongar scored off an assist from Almasi to make it 4-1. The Vikings would add two more goals in the final 10 minutes to pull away for good—Melara scored off an assist from Amin Magar, and Mwingigo Baraka netted the final goal with just over two minutes remaining off a pass from Nguza Lombeba.

The Vikings have now won four straight matches and improve to 9-2-4 on the season with the victory. This was the first-ever meeting between Louisville and Akron North.

Prior to kickoff, Louisville honored its three seniors—Carter Burton, Raiden Lindner, and Michael Woods—with a special Senior Night presentation. The trio was recognized in a walk-through ceremony alongside their families as the crowd celebrated their contributions to the program. A post-game celebration followed as the Leopards marked the final home match of the regular season for their senior leaders.
