Lady Leopards Tame Mustangs in Play for a Cure Match – Volleyball

The Louisville Leopards Volleyball team celebrated one of their most special traditions Thursday evening, hosting “Play for a Cure” at Louisville High School. Surrounded by a packed gym and plenty of pink in support of cancer awareness, the Leopards capped the night with a four-set victory over the Tuslaw Mustangs 25-13, 25-27, 25-13, 25-21. Louisville has now won five straight matches improving to 10-6 on the season.
Standout Performances Across the Court
The Leopards’ front line powered the victory with a balanced attack. Dakota Gross and Mabel Kiko each tallied 13 kills, with Kiko also recording 4 blocks at the net and Gross notching 2 blocks. Kloey Rukavina added 10 kills and 2 blocks, while Taylor McCully turned in a complete performance with 9 kills, 4 blocks, and 12 digs.
Setting the tone from the back row and service line was Addie Johnston, who notched 22 assists, a remarkable 23 service points, and 7 aces. Defensively, Emma Kroah, Karis Miglich, and Aubrey Johnston each finished with 11 digs to keep rallies alive throughout the night.
Leopards Finish Strong
Louisville opened the night in dominating fashion with a 25-13 first-set win, but Tuslaw battled back to edge the Leopards in the second set 27-25. The Lady Leps responded in a big way, cruising through the third 25-13 before showing resilience in the fourth. After trailing for most of the set, Louisville rallied late and pulled away for a 25-21 victory to close out the match.

Louisville with a Program Sweep of Tuslaw
Louisville earned a program sweep of the Mustangs on Play for a Cure night. The JV team defeated Tuslaw in straight sets 25-9, 25-13 to even their record at 7-7, with Lilly Seaman sparking the Leopards in the opening frame by serving 9 straight points after a side out and adding another strong stretch late in the set.
The freshman squad stayed unbeaten at 13-0 with a 25-18, 25-18 victory.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to take on the Fairless Falcons on Saturday, September 27. JV will begin at 10:30 AM and Varsity will follow around 11:30 AM from Fairless High School.
