Leopards Bring Home the Gold Again at Norton Panther Invitational – Boys Cross Country

For the second time this season, the LHS boys ran to a 1st place team finish at an invitational meet. Last Saturday they put on a great team performance to outrun 13 other teams at the Panther Invitational in Norton. It was a very tough course, and times were not the best for any of our runners, but they targeted their strongest competition in the meet, and man-for-man, strategically ran those opponents down.
Three Leopard runners finished in the top 10 scorers. Evan Brown led the team with a 5th place overall finish. Istvan Hendricks trailed him by just a few seconds, finishing 6th. Ryan Mann was not far behind, placing 9th. Those 2 freshmen kept pace with Evan the entire race. Istvan especially ran well – moving up from 6th place on the team, to 4th place, and then to 2nd place in the last 3 meets.
Three more Leopards finished in the top 20: Luke Boldon (16th), Brock Cole (19th), and Gianni Faiello (20th). Gianni had a great kick in the last 200 yards to edge out teammate Isaac Beltz for the 20th spot. This team is dedicated to pack running. They truly demonstrate a team effort. It is exciting to watch!
This Saturday they run in the Sandy Valley Invitational. Competition will be stiff as they face two of the strongest teams in Stark County. But the Leps are growing and will run with heart.
