Burick Named Player of the Game
Wide receiver/defensive back Quin Burick was named the YSN player of the game for his efforts on both sides of the ball.
On defense, Burick recovered a fumble at midfield that set up the Leopards’ first touchdown and ended the first quarter by recording a tackle for loss. Later in the fourth quarter, Burick intercepted a deflected pass at nearly the same spot on the field and returned it to the Alliance 28, setting up Louisville’s final touchdown to remove all doubt.
On offense, Burick led all receivers with three clutch catches for 59 yards. He secured an 11-yard catch on 3rd-and-8 to extend what proved to be the Leopards’ second drive to the end zone. Burick later broke free for a 34-yard reception on 3rd-and-10, getting out of bounds with just seven seconds to go in the first half, setting up Louisville’s third touchdown right before halftime. Burick also hauled in a 14-yard completion on 4th-and-7 to extend the Leopards’ final journey to the end zone in the fourth quarter.
We talked to @LouisvilleLeps Head Coach Kappas and Quinn Burick after their week 2 win over Alliance.

Stoffer Finishes with 244 Yards and 3 Touchdowns
Quarterback Gabe Stoffer steered the Louisville offense with 244 total yards and three touchdowns. He finished 11-of-18 through the air for 155 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also led the Leopards on the ground with 18 carries for 89 yards and a 1-yard touchdown plunge with 1:46 remaining in the game.
Louisville got on the scoreboard first in the opening quarter when Stoffer found sophomore running back Owen Wilson near the left sideline for a 19-yard touchdown pass on 4th-and-3. Just before halftime, Stoffer flipped a swing pass left to Owen DiMarzio for a 6-yard TD with :04 remaining to open a 21-13 lead at the break.
Leopards Dominate on the Ground
Louisville outgained Alliance 342-279, including a 187-72 edge rushing. The Leopards also led in first downs, 18-15, with 11 coming via the run.
While Stoffer led the way in rushing, DiMarzio and Wilson combined for 107 yards. Wilson carried 14 times for 58 yards, scoring on an 8-yard touchdown run inside the right pylon to cap Louisville’s longest drive of the night, putting the Leopards back in front 14-7 with 4:58 left in the second quarter. DiMarzio also ran the ball 10 times for 49 yards.
Louisville’s Game-Changing Special Teams
Louisville excelled in all three phases of the game Friday night with special teams having a huge impact. After the Aviators answered to make it 14-13, 6’8″ Aden Norris blocked the PAT to preserve the lead.
On the next play, Luke Seaman followed blocks from Isaiah Bragg, Anderson Kandel, and Gabe Regimbal, shrugged off two tacklers, and sprinted 52 yards to the Alliance 25. The Leopards were called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after the play, but still scored on a last-second, first-half touchdown four plays later. Seaman had three returns totaling 92 yards on the evening.
Placekicker Parker Daum converted a field goal for the second straight game. His 21-yard boot gave Louisville a two-score cushion at 24-13 just nine seconds into the fourth quarter. Daum also made 3-of-4 extra points with the only failed attempt being blocked.

Leopard Defense Slams the Door in Second Half
The Leopards’ defense forced a three-and-out on the Aviators’ opening drive of the second half. Zander McCrobie notched a drive-stopping sack and Seaman delivered a thumping pass breakup on 3rd-and-18, forcing Alliance to punt.
The Aviators moved the ball into Leopard territory on their next drive looking to shrink the deficit. On first down, Wilson blitzed through the middle of the line unblocked and dragged the quarterback down by the shoelaces for an 11-yard sack. On 4th-and-2, the Louisville defensive line got a big push and linebacker Colton Dougherty tackled the ball carrier short of the line to gain, giving the ball back to the Leopards on their own 28.
Stoffer Delivers Backbreaker Fake Punt to Kandel
Louisville did not net any yardage on the next three plays and faced a 4th-and-10. Stoffer dropped back into punt formation and took the deep snap. Then he rolled to his right and lobbed a pass over a defender to Kandel, who had open field ahead of him. Kandel turned and ran down the right sideline for a gain of 37 to the Aviator 35.
The Leopards did not end up scoring on the drive, but chewed up more precious clock and completely flipped field position. Louisville had its only turnover on downs when a 4th-and-11 pass fell incomplete. On the next snap, Burick intercepted a deflected pass and returned it to the Alliance 28—effectively continuing the drive with a short field.
Jackson and Burton Lead Alliance
Quarterback JR Jackson led the Aviators by completing 18 of 28 passes for 207 yards that included a 12-yard touchdown pass to Kam Burton. But the Leopards held the elusive Jackson to just 11 rushing yards on 13 carries.
Burton was Jackson’s top target making 7 catches for 115 yards, while also accounting for 58 yards on 3 kick returns. Taije Nicholson also made 4 catches for 46 yards and Jarrin Blair had 4 grabs for 20 yards.
Ravhan Hawkins led the Alliance rushing attack with 10 carries for 52 yards. Caydan Sanders also pounded his way into the end zone on his lone 4th-and-goal carry from 2 yards out.
Leopards Win Third Straight Against Aviators
The Leopards have now won their last three matchups against the Aviators dating back to 2021. Louisville leads the all-time series 18-6-1 overall, which includes a 10-3 record in games played at Alliance.
The Leopards are now 5-4 against former Northeastern Buckeye Conference foes since becoming an independent in 2018. Louisville will look to build on that mark when they host Northwest in Week 3 and travel to Marlington in Week 4.
