Boys Basketball Makes Quick Work of Minerva
Louisville 79, Minerva 39
The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball dominated from start to finish in a 79-39 win over the visiting Minerva Lions Tuesday Night at Louisville High School. With the victory, Louisville is now 11-3 overall and 6-2 against the NBC.
Chris Libertore and Drew Noble each scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Leopards. Jake Pukys also reached double figures with 10 and both Jake Adams & Brody Hahn fueled the Louisville offense with 5 assists each.
The Leopards held the Lions scoreless from the field for the first 10:30 of the contest. In the process, Louisville soared out to a 29-3 advantage and never looked back.
The Leopards held a significant edge in shooting. Louisville shot 52% (29 of 56) from the floor where as Minerva made just 30% (13 of 43) shots from the field. The Leopards hit 9 of 21 (43%) three-pointers, while the Lions hit home just 1 of 21 (5%) attempts from downtown.
Louisville also out-rebounded Minerva 36-22 for the game. Noble finished with a game-high 13 boards for the Leopards.
The Lions were led by Connor Wright who finished with a team-high 9 points. Jake Preston also tallied 8 and Ethan Hall & Brett Russell each tacked on 5 points.
With the victory, the Leopards have now defeated the Lions in 12 of their last 13 meetings including the last five overall. Louisville now leads the all-time series over Minerva 87-68.
With the win, Leopards Head Coach Tom Siegfried had a very Happy Birthday in tying Bill Eddins for the most coaching wins all-time in Louisville Leopards Boys Basketball Program history. Siegfried is now 101-89 since he took over as Head Coach in the 2007-08 season and can stand alone atop the all-time coaching wins list with a victory over West Branch Friday.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the West Branch Warriors on Friday, January 22. JV will start at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.
