Softball Downs Cross-Town Aquinas in Scrimmage

The Louisville Lady Leopards downed the visiting St. Thomas Aquinas Knights 8-1 in a six inning scrimmage Saturday. With the win, Louisville is now 2-0 in the preseason.
The Leopards were held hitless through the first four innings as the Knights claimed a 1-0 advantage. However, Louisville produced a four spot in each of the final two innings to claim the game 8-1.
Emily Cantley cracked an RBI double to put the Leopards on the board in the bottom half of the fifth. Two batters later, Morgan Harris drove in Riley Bobo with a single to center. Later on in the inning, Peyton McKeever made the most of her only at-bat with a 2-run single to right.
In the last of the sixth, Grace Jackson delivered with an RBI Triple and Rylie Squire also cracked an RBI double. In addition, Katie Cozy scored on a wild pitch and Bobo tallied her second run as a courtesy runner via an error.
In the circle, Wharmby held the Knights scoreless through the first three innings, striking out 2, and only giving up a single hit in the process. Harris also worked the final three innings and struck out 4.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Austintown Fitch Falcons in a Scrimmage on Tuesday, March 24 at 5:00 PM.
