Youngstown Ursuline 4, Louisville 3

My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdThe Louisville Leopards Varsity Football Team played host to the Youngstown Ursuline Fighting Irish for a scrimmage Friday Morning at Louisville Leopards Stadium. Although scrimmage scoring is very subjective and does not tell the full story, the Fighting Irish found the endzone four times and the Leopards reached the endzone three times.

Youngstown Ursuline scored all three of the touchdowns in the goal line session to start the scrimmage. When the field opened wide in the regular ten play scrimmage format, Louisville showed off its long range passing attack. Quarterback Colton Jones found a wide open Ryan Pukys for a 50 yard strike to get the Leopards on the board. Still retaining possession from the Irish 35 for their ten play sequence, Jones found Pukys again for a 9 yard gain. Then Jones went long and Davis Burick hauled in the tipped pass for a 26 yard touchdown reception.

The final session of the day tested each team’s two minute offense starting from their own 35. The Fighting Irish’s two-minute opportunity was short-lived as Leopard Linebacker Max Stamey tipped and hauled in an interception in the middle of the field. The defenses continued to dominate the next two possessions in which neither offense was able to move the sticks.

Louisville faced a similar scenario on their final possession of the scrimmage. On a 3rd-and-9 from their own 21, Jones fired down the left sideline to Grayson Beamer for a 39 yard gain to the Ursuline 40. A penalty set the Leopards back into a 3rd-and-26 scenario from their own 44. Going to their bag of tricks, Jones completed a short pass to Burick at the midfield stripe and he lateraled the ball to Runningback Connor Adelman who ran 50 yards for the touchdown. Kicker Myles Lab hit home the extra point and the Varsity 1st Team portion of the scrimmage concluded.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to face the Wooster Generals for their second scrimmage on Friday, August 16 at 5:00 PM.
