The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team celebrated Senior Night with a dominant 13-3 victory over the visiting West Geauga Wolverines Thursday evening at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the win, the Lady Leopards improve to 3-11 on the season, while the Wolverines fall to 3-9.
Balanced Scoring Attack Leads Early Surge
Louisville jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Maddy Pinhard opened the scoring less than a minute into the contest, and after a quick equalizer by West Geauga’s Angelina Insana, the Leopards answered with three straight goals from Ashley Milburn, Claire Genet, and Emmy Harter.
In the second quarter, defenders Kendra Balestra and Chevelle Boisclair joined the scoring party with back-to-back goals, stretching the lead to 6-1. The Wolverines cut into the deficit with a first half late goal by Lizzie Fuerst, but Louisville still led 6-2 at the break.
Babcock Breaks Loose with 4 Second Half Goals
Izzy Babcock took over in the second half, netting four goals, including a hat trick in the fourth quarter. She scored late in the third to extend the Leopard lead to 8-2 before scoring three goals in a 2:34 span to put the game away.
Milburn added her second goal of the game early in the third, and Gianna Pentito scored during Babock’s fourth quarter flurry. Cheyanne Franklin capped the scoring with a goal in the final three minutes.
Strong Defensive Effort Secures Win
The Leopard defense held the Wolverines to just one goal in each of the first three quarters and completely shut them out in the final frame.
Fuerst tallied the lone second half score for West Geauga giving her a team leading two goals on the evening.
This was the first-ever meeting between the Leopards and the Wolverines in girls lacrosse. West Geauga is the fifth new opponent Louisville has played this season and the 38th unique school Lady Leopards Lacrosse has challenged in program history.
