The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the visiting Waynedale Golden Bears 45-28 Monday night at Louisville High School. The loss snaps the Lady Leopards’ three-game winning streak as they fall to 4-6 on the season.

Tillett Starts Strong, Scores Team-High 10

Gionino's Pizzeria Oakwood - Mobile AdSophomore Ella Tillett scored 6 of her team-high 10 points in the opening quarter to lead the Lady Leopards. Louisville trailed 15-6 early on, but closed the opening quarter on a 6-2 run to trim the deficit to 17-12 at the end of the first.

The Golden Bears outscored the Leopards 8-1 in the second quarter to pull ahead 25-13 at the half. Tillett responded out of the break by scoring on a lay-in while being fouled. She also registered multiple second-half blocks and hit 2-of-4 free throws in the fourth quarter to reach double figures.


Salmons and Seaman Drop In 7 Each

Senior Mikayla Salmons and freshman Lilly Seaman added 7 points each. Salmons scored in every quarter, including Louisville’s lone point in the second quarter. Seaman hit back-to-back buckets and finished with 5 points in the third quarter. 

Seniors Maggie Baker and Mabel Kiko also tacked on 2 points each to round out the Lady Leopards’ scoring.


Troyer and Persinger Lead Waynedale to Win

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdJunior Audrey Troyer scored all of her game-high 14 points in the first three quarters to lead the Golden Bears. She buried 6-of-6 free throws and scored 8 points in the opening quarter to help Waynedale build an early lead.

Senior Jorjia Persinger hit home 4 three-pointers to also finish in double figures with 12. Senior Brooke Compston also scored 8, senior Kylie Geiser and junior Bella Parry added 4 each, and junior Mya Spitler also made a three-pointer.

West Main Vet Clinic AdThe Golden Bears have now won three straight and improve to 7-3 on the season.

Louisville is now 0-2 against Waynedale all-time. The Lady Leopards scored the same point total in last season’s 34-28 road loss to the Golden Bears.
