Louisville Leopards Football Under Armor Camp Shirt 2017The Louisville Leopards Varsity Football upended the host Alliance Aviators 41-7 at Mount Union Stadium Friday Night. With the win, Louisville is now 3-1 overall and 1-0 in NBC play.

Runningback Rahzul Young carried the ball 12 times for 127 yards and scored 3 touchdowns to lead the Leopards. Quarterback Jake Adams was 9 of 11 for 162 yards passing with 2 aerial scores to go along with a score on the ground.

Gavin VanZant’s opening kickoff pinned Alliance back on their own 11 yard line to start the game. After a three-and-out, Tyler Adams returned the ensuing punt 13 yards and the Leopards setup shop at the Aviators 42. Five plays later, Jake Adams faked a handoff to Young and plowed into the endzone from three yards out.

Grove Appliance Alliance Ohio AdThe next Alliance possession stalled at their Own 39. The Aviators elected to go for it on 4th-and-1 and pride of Leopards stonewalled a Quarterback Sneak attempt for no gain. Three plays later Jake Adams hit Tyler Adams who tip-toed down the left sideline to make it 14-0.

Alliance cut the Louisville lead in half during their next possession. Runningback Duce Johnson broke away down the right sideline for a 48 yard touchdown run. Johnson would finish the night with 12 carries for 72 yards to lead AHS.

The Leopards answered back with another five play scoring drive. The key play on the drive was a slippery 28 yard run by Young to the Aviators 16. One play later Jake Adams hit a wide open Alec Jones in the center of the endzone.

The next Louisville score was setup by their only takeaway of the contest. Linebacker Frankie Falcone delivered a pulse-pounding hit on Alliance Quarterback Aeyron Williams jarring the ball free. Fellow Linebacker Justin Vanover fell on it at the Aviators 47.

The Leopards went right to the air on the following play as Jake Adams rolled to his left to find Brock Haren for a 35 yard gain. Three plays later Young ran the ball up the gut from 4 yards away to put Louisville ahead 27-7.

Young would reach paydirt again from 18 yards out with just 28 seconds left in the half to put the Leopards up 34-7. Another Adams to Haren 30 yard connection set up that score as well. Haren finished as Louisville’s leading receiving with 3 catches for 77 yards.

The Leopards put the final nail in the coffin on the opening drive of the third quarter courtesy of another short field. Corey White returned the opening second half kickoff 41 yards to the Alliance 34. Four plays into the drive, Young rumbled 14 yards to the left to make it 41-7.

With the mercy rule in effect, the clock ran the rest of the way. Louisville finished with the edge in total yards 364-153 and in first downs 21-6. Amazingly, neither team registered a penalty for the entire game.

Perhaps the most entertaining part of the contest came on the the Leopards point after attempts. Three different Louisville players scored PATs in the game. Brody Hahn completed a two-point conversion pass to Falcone on the opening drive, Young booted through a kick, and Kicker Trevor Burk also made 2 extra points.

With the win, the Leopards have now won 9 straight against the Aviators and 6 straight at Alliance. Louisville leads the all-time series 14-4-1, which includes an 8-2 mark on the road. The Leopards have now won 15 straight NBC games overall.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Minerva to take on the Lions on Friday, September 25 at 7:00 PM.
