Tornadoes Swirl Past Leopards in Opener

The Louisville Leopards fell to the host Dover Tornadoes 10-6 in the season opener at Dover City Park Monday evening.

Despite the loss, Louisville pounded out 12 hits at the plate. Tyler Adams, Marco Buccasso, Joe Crank, and Dalton Deckerd all had a pair of hits each for the Leopards. Jake Adams also hit a 2-run double and Buccasso scored twice.

The Tornadoes put up a 4-sport in the bottom half of the first inning, but the Leopards answered back with a 5-run second inning to take the lead. They would go ahead 6-4 by the middle of the third, but would surrendered the final 6 runs of the contest to Dover.

The Tornadoes were led by Jake Suddeth who batted 2-for-2 with 4 RBI’s and 2 runs scored. Cory Contini also went 3-for-3 at the plate with 2 runs scored for Dover.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Marlington to take on the Dukes on Tuesday, March 31 at 4:30 PM. JV will be home during the same time.

The Leopards JV Squad opened up their 2015 season with a 9-3 victory over the visiting Tornadoes.

Amazingly, Louisville won the contest despite being out-hit 5-3. Trevor Burk and Casey Nau each had a hit and an RBI to lead the Leopards. Nick Harsh also finished with a pair of RBIs and Corey White scored two runs.

On the mound, Cameron Prasco pitched 6 strong innings, striking out 4, and picking up the victory.

Louisville was mercied by visiting Dover 18-1 in 6 Innings in the season opener Monday.

Drew Doerschuk provided an RBI Double scoring BJ Singer in the bottom of the fourth for the lone Leopards score. Andrew Casto had the only other hit for Louisville.

Pitcher Justin Shepler led the Tornadoes by pitching a complete game and striking out 10. Max Brown also went 4-for-4 with 4 runs batted in, Cooper Smith hit a triple and drove in 4 as well, and Drew Sexton finished 3-for-5 with a double and 2 RBIs.
