Leopards JV Opens With Win Against Big Red 21-8 – JV Football

The Louisville Leopards JV Football Team opened up the season with a 21-8 victory over the visiting Steubenville Big Red Saturday Morning at Louisville Leopards Stadium.
Rice Runs for TD and Throws For Another
Sophomore quarterback Cooper Rice ran for a touchdown and threw another to lead the Leopards JV to an opening morning victory. Rice opened up the scoring with a 65 yard touchdown run on Louisville’s first drive of the game. Later, Rice threw a deep pass down field for a 40+ yard touchdown to junior wide receiver Carter Duskey to put the Leopards ahead 21-0.
Louisville’s other score came late in the second quarter. Sophomore Jacob Paumier threw a screen pass to sophomore wide receiver Carter Deem who broke loose for a 35 yard touchdown with 55 seconds to go before halftime.

Graybill and Elder Record 2nd Half Takeaways
Reported Leopard defensive highlights included sophomore linebacker Kason Graybill recovering a third quarter fumble and sophomore defensive back Braiden Elder hauling in a game-sealing interception late in the fourth quarter. Sophomore kicker Seth Colley was also perfect on extra point kicks going 3 for 3.
The Louisville defense held Steubenville off the scoreboard until 2:44 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Big Red scored a touchdown and added a two-point conversion.
