Final Relay Lifts Lady Leopards Forcing a Split with Salem – Track and Field

Louisville Leopards Track and Field Vs. Salem Quakers 2018

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Track Teams hosted the Salem Quakers Thursday Evening at Louisville High School. The Louisville Boys fell to Salem 97-31 to drop to 1-3 in the NBC. The Lady Leopards defeated the Quakers 68-60 to even their mark for the season at 2-2.

Boys: Salem 97, Louisville 31

Nathan Guiley and Brock Singer each won two events to lead the Leopards. Individually, Guiley won the 100 Meter and Singer captured the 200 Meter. Both were part of the first place 400 Relay team also consisting of Kyle Boggs and Gavin VanZant. 

Clayton Elder was the other Louisville first placer finisher  in the 300 Hurdles.

Shot put: Brant (S) 41-5. Discus: Stockman (S) 133-11. High jump: Cannon (S) 5-10. Long jump: n/a (S) 19-4. 3,200-meter relay: Salem 9:01. 110 hurdles: Murray (S) 16.1. 100: Guiley (L) 11.40. 800 relay: Salem (Johnson, Lehwald, Ackerman, Baddelley) 1:36. 1,600: Christopher (S) 4:52. 400 relay: Louisville (Boggs, VanZant, Singer, Guiley) 45.5. 400: Double (S) 53.5. 300 hurdles: Elder (L) 42.2. 800: Rumsey (S) 2:08. 200: Singer (L) 23.7. 3,200: Double (S) 11:30.

Girls: Louisville 68, Salem 60

The Louisville Girls Track Meet was decided in the final event of the evening. The 4×400 relay team consisting of Sydney McKeever, Morgan Cole, Destini Adoriso, and Kayla Gibson finished with a season best mark of 4:09.3 to win the event and give the Lady Leopards the league victory.

Louisville Leopards Light Blue Hoodie Established 1924 - Beatty's Sports Fall 2017“McKeever came from the softball field where she helped lead her team to a victory,” Louisville Head Coach Jerry Fresenko said in his recap of the meet. Lady Leopards Softball downed the Minerva Lions 7-1 on the other side of the Louisville sports complex. “She then came to the track to run an outstanding lead off leg and help secure the win.”

First Place Finishers

Gibson, Heather Guiley and Karli Miller each won two events individually to lead the Leopards. Gibson won the 100 and 200 Meter, Guiley took the 100 and 300 Hurdles, and Miller claimed first in both the High Jump and Long Jump.

Others capturing first individually for Louisville included Morgan Cole (1600 Meters) and Cassidy Kiko (800 Meters). The 4×800 Meter Relay team of Iris Menegay, Grace Collins, Caityln Gatta, and Kiko were also victorious.

Second Place Finishers

Makenna Jones (100 Hurdles), Heather Guiley (100 Meters), Destini Adorisio (300 Hurdles), and Grace Collins (800 Meters).

Third Place Finishers

Iris Menegay (1600 Meters), Tessa Miller (400 Meters) Makenna Jones (300 Hurdles and High Jump), Caitlyn Gatta (3200 Meters), and Destini Adorisio (Long Jump)

Shot put: Antram (S) 41-4. Discus: Marx (S) 144-7. High jump: Miller (L) 4-10. Long jump: Miller (L) 15-1. 3,200-meter relay: Louisville (Menegay, Collins, Gatta, Kiko) 10:34. 100 hurdles: Guiley (L) 17.1. 100: Gibson (L) 12.9. 800 relay: Salem 1:52. 1,600: Cole (L) 5:32. 400 relay: Salem 53.3. 400: Rozeski (S) 1:03.3. 300 hurdles: Guiley (L) 51.9. 800: Kiko (L) 2:37. 200: Gibson (L) 27.4. 3,200: Rozeski (S) 12:22. 1,600 relay: Louisville (McKeever, Cole, Adorisio, Gibson) 4:09.3.

UP NEXT: The Louisville Leopards Track and Field Teams will next compete at the Golden Eagle Invite on Saturday, April 14. Meet is set to begin at 9:00 AM from GlenOak High School.
