Records Fall in Swim Meet Vs. Hoban, Girls Stay Undefeated
The Lady Leopards Girls Varsity Swim Team remained undefeated as they defeated Archbishop Hoban 89-78 at the Louisville YMCA Tuesday evening.. The boys squad fell to the Knights 102-67.
Two team records were shattered during the meet. Stephanie Brookens remained undefeated on the season getting first place finishes in the 50 and 400 Freestyle races. Brookens broke her own record by lowering her time to 5:04.08 in the 400 Freestyle. For the boys, Matt Campbell also broke the 400 Freestyle team record eclipsing Joe Mangino’s 2007 mark with a time of 4:48.89. Campbell also finished first in the 50 Freestyle like Brookens.
The girls victory was made possible by six first place finishes. Like Brookens, Stephanie Horton also won two individual races in the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke. Amy Yu also had a first place finish in the 100 Butterfly individually. The 200 Medley Relay team of Tatianna Varner, Stephanie Horton, Amy Yu, and Stephanie Brookens also captured a first place finish in the opening event. Other than Campbell, Caleb Walters had the only other first place finish for the boys in the 100 Breaststroke.
