Babcock Leads Leopards with Another 4-Goal Game

West Main Vet Clinic AdIzzy Babcock turned in Louisville’s biggest offensive performance of the afternoon, scoring 4 goals and 2 assists in the win. The junior now has a team-leading 11 goals through the Leopards’ first three games. Babcock scored her first goal early in the second quarter to stretch Louisville’s lead to 4-1. She then assisted on Kloey Rukavina’s first goal just 15 seconds later to give the Leopards their largest lead of the first half at 5-1.

After Padua cut the deficit to 5-3 by halftime, Babcock helped Louisville seize control again in the third quarter. She scored off an assist from Abby Demos to begin a 4-1 Louisville run, then added another goal after scooping up a ground ball behind the cage and spinning around the goal to finish. Babcock later capped the burst with a free-position goal in the final minute of the third quarter to make it 9-4.

Diller and Rukavina Add 2 Goals Each

Gionino's Pizzeria Oakwood - Mobile AdLouisville also got key production from several other contributors. Grace Diller finished with 2 goals and an assist, giving her 5 goals and 3 assists on the season. Diller scored off a feed from Babcock in the first quarter to make it 3-0 and later scored on a free-position goal in the second quarter to extend the Leopard lead to 7-3.

Rukavina scored twice for Louisville and now has 3 goals this spring, while Natalie Warner added her first assist of the season on Rukavina’s fourth-quarter goal.

Demos and Genet Give Louisville the Early Edge

The Leopards controlled the early momentum by scoring three of the game’s first four goals. Abby Demos opened the scoring with an unassisted strike and Genet followed off a Diller assist to make it 2-0.

Demos and Genet have now each scored 5 goals this season. Demos also added an assist on Babcock’s third-quarter score, bringing her season total to 3 assists.

Padua answered late in the first quarter and later cut the deficit to 5-3 by halftime with a pair of free-position goals in the second quarter. But every time the Bruins threatened to make it a one-goal game, Louisville had an answer. The Leopards opened the second half with three of the first four goals in the third quarter and ultimately outscored Padua 5-2 after intermission to put the game away.

Bryan and Duke Record Two Goals Each for Padua

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdPadua was led offensively by Mariana Bryan and Peyton Duke, who each scored twice to help keep the Bruins within striking distance. Duke got Padua on the board late in the opening quarter, then converted a free-position chance in the second quarter to trim Louisville’s lead to 5-2.

Bryan followed with another free-position goal to trim the deficit to 5-3 at the half. She also scored the Bruins’ final goal of the game at the 5:03 mark of the fourth quarter to make it 10-5.

Nora Kenny added Padua’s fourth goal on a rebound in the third quarter.

This was the first-ever girls lacrosse meeting between Louisville and Padua Franciscan. The Bruins are the 40th unique opponent the Lady Leopards have faced in their 10-season history.
