Louisville Earns 1st Win Over Hoover Since 1988 – Boys Golf

The Louisville Leopards Boys Golf Team edged the visiting North Canton Hoover Vikings 163-167 Tuesday on the back nine (par 36) at Sleepy Hollow Country Club. With their 10th straight victory, Louisville finishes the regular season with a record of 10-1.
Mayle Shoots 37 to Lead Louisville
Junior Jack Mayle shot 1 over par 37 to lead the Leopards as the match medalist. Fellow junior Zach Root also shot 5 over par 41 for Louisville.
Rounding out the scoring for the Leopards were senior Caleb Harsh who tallied a 42 and senior Sam Karcher who carded a 43. Other Louisville varsity participants included senior Ian DiMarzio who finished with 44 and junior Cole Miller who shot 47.
Boop Cards 39 to Lead Hoover
Senior Will Bopp shot a team best 3 over par 39 to lead North Canton. Sophomore Daniel Gambone and senior Mario Tortorella also shot 41 each.
Sharing the fourth spot in Hoover’s team total were senior Riley Ellsworth, senior Noah Mizener, and junior Ernest Otte who all finished with 46 a piece.
Leopards Last Beat Vikings in 1988
This is the first meeting between the Leopards and the Vikings since the 1989 opener that Hoover won 152-161 at Bob-O-Link golf course. Louisville last defeated North Canton 160-161 during the 1988 season. The two teams have not meant on the green other than in tournament competition.
The Leopards close the season with 10 straight straight victories. That is their best mark to close a campaign since they won 11 straight matches to close the 2015 season. They also dropped their opener in the 2015 season before finishing 11-1.
