Louisville Succumbs to McDowell’s Second-Half Rally 5-4 – Boys Lacrosse

The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team let a fourth-quarter lead slip away in a 5-4 loss to the visiting McDowell Trojans Tuesday night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the lossa, Louisville drops to 3-3 on the season with the defeat.

Leopards Strike Early in Opening Quarter
Louisville came out sharp and built a 3-2 lead in the first quarter. Mason Warner opened the scoring for the Leopards off an assist from Parker Daum. Dillyn Decost followed with a goal off a feed from Keegan Coy to put Louisville ahead 2-0.
McDowell answered with a pair of goals to even the match. Aydan Mays got the Trojans on the board off an assist from Jackson Hammer before Harrison Parra intercepted a pass around midfield and turned it into an unassisted goal.
Daum Scores Pair of Goals to Lead Leopards
Louisville regained the lead before the end of the opening quarter when Daum scored off a pass from Daeton Gerig to make it 3-2.
Neither team found the back of the net in the second quarter as both defenses settled in. Louisville carried its one-goal advantage into halftime and then added to it midway through the third quarter when Daum scored his second goal of the night to extend the Leopard lead to 4-2.
Trojans Flip the Game with 3 Unanswered Second-Half Goals
McDowell began its comeback late in the third quarter when Sebastian Rash scored off an assist from Jackson Hammer to cut the deficit to 4-3. The Trojans then completed the rally in the fourth quarter.
Dawson Adams tied the game at 4-4 via an assist from William Carlin with 9:32 remaining. Carlin then scored the go-ahead goal off a helper from Adams with 6:32 left. Louisville was unable to answer the rest of the way as McDowell closed out the 5-4 win.
The Trojans are now 1-1 on the season with the victory.
This was the first-ever meeting between Louisville and McDowell in boys lacrosse. The Trojans are the 49th unique opponent the Leopards have faced in boys lacrosse all-time.
UP NEXT: The Louisville Boys Lacrosse Team will next travel to take on the Archbishop Hoban Knights on Tuesday, April 7. JV will begin at 5:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:00 PM from Dowed Field
