Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdThe Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team earned a convincing 70-48 win over the visiting Massillon Tigers Friday Night at Louisville High School. The Leopards have now won 5 of their last 6 to improve to 6-4 on the year.

Senior Scotty Gronow scored 16 of his game-high 25 points in the first half to lead Louisville to a 28-20 halftime advantage. Senior Allen Staley also scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half as the Leopards scorched the nets in building a 20-point advantage at the end of three quarters. Senior Collin Chambers also added 11 for LHS.

Gronow scored 10 points in the first quarter alone as Louisville took a 14-8 lead out of the gate. The Leopards edged the Tigers 14-12 in the second quarter before erupting for 27 points in the third quarter to build a 55-35 cushion. Louisville would outscore Massillon 15-13 in the final period as well.

The Tigers (7-2) were led by Senior Jaden Stock who scored all of team-high 10 points in the second half. Junior Jayden Ballard also hit 3 three-pointers in finishing with 9 and Junior Luke Sabo also tacked on 9 for Massillon.

My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdFree throws proved to be a stark difference in the contest as the Tigers out-fouled the Leopards 22-12. Louisville converted 15 of 22 (68%) shots from the charity stride while Massillon made just 4 of 8 (50%).

The Leopards have now won 3 of their last 4 meetings against the Tigers in the recent series that rebooted in 2015. This is Louisville’s first win at home over Massillon since a 74-66 victory over the Tigers on February 12, 1982. The school’s never met on the hardwood from 1985-2014. The Leopards still trail the all-time series 7-15 which includes a 3-6 record when playing at LHS.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to face the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals on Friday, January 17. JV begins at 6:00 PM followed by Varsity at 7:30 PM. The JV will also be in action on Saturday, January 11 hosting James F Rhodes at 2:00 PM. Freshman are scheduled to play at GlenOak on Monday, January 13 at 5:00 PM before hosting Akron Kenmore-Garfield on Thursday, January 16 at 5:30 PM at LES.
