Louisville 27, North Canton Hoover 0

Fullback Chris Menegay carried the ball 18 times for 146 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead the Louisville Leopards to a 27-0 opening night victory over the visiting North Canton Hoover Vikings on September 3, 1993.

“They were great,” Menegay spoke of his offensive line after the game. “The whole line worked really hard in the weight room this summer and they’ve gotten a lot bigger and a lot better.”

Center Frank Tatka and Guard Dave Weigand were paramount in paving the way for Louisville runners who rushed 50 times for 308 yards as a team. Menegay did all of the scoring though on runs of 16, 5, 1, and 4.

The first touchdown was setup by a 20 yard punt return by Bob Burick and that’s all the Leopards would need as their defense dominated. North Canton was held to 20 yards passing and only converted once on first down throughout the entire night.
