Louisville Leopards Vs. Fostoria Redmen 1992 State Semifinals Football Highlights
Fostoria 48, Louisville 7
Louisville struck first in the 1992 Division II State Semifinals at George Finnie Stadium in Berea, but it was all Fostoria after that as the Redmen downed the Leopards 48-7 back on November 27, 1992 in front of a crowd of 9,475 in attendance.
Louisville caught a break early on when Fostoria muffed a punt and the Leopards Eric Stetler recovered the ball on the 40 yard line. On the ensuing drive Bob Burick caught a pass and ran to the 2 yard line before fumbling the ball into the endzone where his teammate Jason Dossi recovered to put Louisville ahead 7-0 with 8:37 to go in the first quarter.
The defending state champion Redmen would go on to score 48 unanswered points and win their 27th game in a row. Jason Doogs led Fostoria with 27 carries for 263 yards and 2 touchdowns. His 89 yard touchdown run just before halftime was the biggest backbreaker as he finished with 207 yards on the ground in the first half.
While the Redmen successfully ran the ball, the Leopards could not. Louisville only netted 2 rushing yards for the game, while Jon Aljancic was 11 for 28 for 102 yards threw the air. Burick also picked off a pass for the Leopards who finished the season 12-1 and became the first ever Louisville Football team to make it to a State Semifinal contest.
Fostoria would fall to St. Mary’s Memorial 28-14 in the Division II Championship game at Massillon’s Paul Brown Tiger Stadium the following week.
