The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the Bishop Hartley Hawks 52-39 Saturday Afternoon at the Wishes Can Happen Holiday Classic held at GlenOak High School. With the loss, Louisville drops to 3-6 on the year.

Barwick Scores Team High 17 to Lead Leopards

Romeo's Pizza Louisville, Ohio AdCourtney Barwick scored 13 of her team high 17 points in the second half to lead the Lady Leopards. Barwick hit 3 three-pointers in the second half, including a pair in the fourth quarter.

Maggie Baker hit Louisville’s other 4 three-pointers to account for all of her 12 points on the afternoon. Mabel Kiko and Ella Tillett also added 4 points each. Reagan Biery rounded out the Leopards scoring with a bucket as well.


Louisville Blanks Bishop Hartley in 2nd Quarter

Bishop Hartley jumped out to an 11-6 lead after the first quarter. However, Louisville flipped the script on the Hawks by outscoring them 13-0 in the second quarter. The shutout ties a team record for least amount of points allowed in a quarter matching multiple other instances. Most notably, the 2011-12 team accomplished the feat twice at home against Salem and Alliance.

The tables turned again in the second half. Trailing 19-11 at the half, the Hawks bested the Leopards 18-5 in the third quarter to take a 29-24 lead in to the fourth quarter. Both teams produced their highest output in the final period with Bishop Hartley scoring 23 points and Louisville tallying 15. The Hawks walked away with a 13-point victory despite their failure to score in the second quarter.


Burnett Drops in Game High 19 for Hawks

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdNaomie Burnett scored 13 of her game high 19 points in the fourth quarter to lead Bishop Hartley. Burnett made a pair of three-pointers and converted 3 of 4 free attempts in the final stanza.

Meira Mullins and Aniyah Thorne added 8 points each for the Hawks. Zakahri Harrison and Keegan McKnight also tacked on 6, Jillian Reese and London Wilson scored a basket each, and Miah Smith tacked on a point by splitting a pair of free throws.

This was the first ever matchup between Louisville and Bishop Hartley in girls basketball.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Akron Buchtel Griffins on Thursday, January 2. The matchup will be varsity only beginning at 6:00 PM at Louisville High School.
