The thunder & lightning never came from the sky, but Louisville rumbled to a 41-7 lead early on in the fourth quarter before cruising to a 41-28 victory over Salem Friday at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, the Leopards are now 4-0 overall and 1-0 in NBC play.

Beatty's Grey Jacketthe tone early on by running 54 yards to the house on the Leopards first play from scrimmage. Schrock would finish the evening with a team-leading 129 yards on 12 carries and would score again in the third quarter on a 38 yard touchdown run on a 4th-and-2 play. Dakota James also finished with 12 carries for 39 yards and a 3 yard touchdown run.

Quarterback Connor Zwick also reached the century mark on the ground via 12 carries. He scored on runs of 34 and 14 in the second and fourth quarters. Zwick also connected with Andy Minster for a 5 yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. The score was setup by a 26 yard circus catch by Minster two plays before. Zwick would finish the evening 15 of 28 for 186 yards through the air.

Alex Hollifield led all receivers with 5 catches for 79 yards. Bryce Mathie also made 4 grabs for 39 yards and Minster finished with 3 receptions for 35 yards. Kyle Bast and Kyle Woost also had catches in the passing game.

While the score suggests a closer game, the outcome was never in doubt. 3 of Salem’s 4 touchdowns came in the final 9:39 of the contest against Louisville’s second string. Quarterback Matt Weingart ran for a score and also threw 2 touchdown passes to Mike Popa & Dan Rumsey. Haedan Runningback Panezott also rushed for 60 of his 84 yards on a fourth quarter touchdown run. The Quakers are now 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Louisville is now 6-2 all-time against Salem which includes a 4-0 record at home. The 69 points scored in this contest matches last year’s at Salem in which the Leopards were victorious 43-26.
