Louisville Leopards Swimming 2013-14 Season in Review

The Louisville Leopards Swim Season officially ended this past weekend at the DI Cleveland District Meet. The Boys Squad finished the regular season 7-4 and sent 2 Individuals & 2 Relay teams to the District Meet. The Girls Squad finished the regular season at 8-3 and qualified for Districts in 2 Individual Events & 1 Relay Event.

At the DI Akron South Sectional, the Boys Squad placed 9th out of 14 teams. Keegan Ossler Beatty's Sports Leopard Winter Coat copyfinished 8th in the 50 Yard Freestyle and Alex Wesely placed 6th in the 100 Yard Butterfly individually to qualify for Districts. The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay Team (Wesely, Joe Casto, Caleb Walters, Ossler) placed 8th and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay Team (Walters, Casto, Wesely, Ossler) placed 6th to also qualify for the District Meet.

The Girls Squad placed 10th out of 15 teams at the DI Akron South Sectional. Allison Richmond finished 5th in both the 200 Yard Freestyle and 500 Yard Freestyle to qualify for Districts in both events. The 400 Yard Freestyle Relay Team (Alaina Hartley, Rachel Morris, Ashley Smith, Richmond) also took 6th place to earn a trip to Cleveland.

Both the Boys and Girls Squads won the second annual NBC Meet held at Alliance on January 17. The Boys also took 7th and the Girls took 4th at the Cloverleaf Stampede on December 28. The signature dual meet of the year came against Canton McKinley on January 4. For just the third time in their history, the Lady Leopards downed the Lady Bulldogs 102-78.

Two Relay Team Records were reportedly broken this season at Louisville. On December 21, the Boys 200 Freestyle Relay Team (Casto, Walters, Wesely, Ossler) broke the school record with a time of 1:48.84. A month later on January 21, the Girls 400 Freestyle Relay Team (Hartley, Smith, Morris, Richmond) broke an 18 year school record with a time of 4:24.26
