New Louisville Leopards Stadium Scoreboard 2020

Beatty's Sports Wrestling Team Dual State Champions ShirtLouisville Schools is pleased to announce that the committee working to fund a new scoreboard at Louisville Leopard Stadium has met their goal!  Former board of education member Dr. Michael Thomas spearheaded the initiative, resulting in private advertising partners covering 100% of the cost to replace the 13-year-old used scoreboard and sound system.

The Louisville Board of Education approved the contract with Daktronics to produce the scoreboard at its Monday, June 15, regular meeting.

“The Board did not enter the decision to approve the project lightly, balancing recent budget cuts and a pending levy request, with an appreciation for the work of the committee to ensure the project is funded at no cost to the district”

– Frank Antonacci, President of the Louisville Board of Education

The new scoreboard increases advertising potential through the addition of video commercial spots. The new Board will also save the district in maintenance and utilities as the LED technology uses 1/10 of the electricity needed for an incandescent bulb, lasts longer, and its solid-state design requires little to no maintenance.

Understanding the district’s financial state and concern that the scoreboard may not last another season, Dr. Thomas began approaching potential advertisers to fund the project.

“When I began talking to business owners and showing them the benefits of the new technology, they were thrilled with the opportunity to support the district with their adverting dollars and amazed at the potential for increased visibility for their company.”

– Dr. Michael Thomas

The district is excited about the curriculum opportunities for students, such as creating game day content, using the TriCaster for instant replay and running the video cameras.

“We try to put students in real-life situations. Utilizing this state-of-the-art equipment in our broadcasting class and video production club will mimic what students might use in their future careers. This is the same equipment used in professional and college stadiums across the nation.”

– Ken Faye, Principle at Louisville High School

“We are very thankful for the wonderful businesses in our community and throughout Northeast Ohio that support our school district. Scoreboard advertising is a way for businesses to show that they are embedded in our community and supportive of our students and athletes.”

– Terrie Horn, Athletic Director at Louisville High School

The district will be announcing more details over the coming weeks and is planning a special sponsor recognition and the unveiling of the scoreboard project before the fall athletic season
