Louisville Falls Victim to Undefeated West Branch 59-41

Grove Appliance Alliance Ohio AdThe Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the host West Branch Warriors 59-41 Saturday Afternoon at West Branch High School. With the loss, Louisville drops to 2-10 on the year with a 2-5 record in the NBC.

Ellie Jackson scored a team-high 12 points, dished out a team leading 4 assists, and recorded 2 steals to lead the Lady Leopards. Sherilynn Mullett also scored 8, and both Kayla Gibson and Erin Hahn added 7 a piece to round out the Louisville top scorers. Hahn also led the team with 3 steals and Cassidy Kiko finished with a team best 5 rebounds.

West Branch took a 16-4 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. They led 30-17 at the break and 47-28 heading into the final period. The Warriors out-shot the Leopards 42% (17 of 40) to 30% (15 of 50) from the floor for the game. They also won the battle on the boards 32-20, which included a 21-10 advantage on the defensive glass.

Zuchowski also had a game best 8 rebounds and Hovorka recorded a game leading 5 assists to go along with 6 boards. Grace Heath and Sarrah Tennefoss also tallied 7 points each for West Branch 

This was the 60th all-time meeting between the Leopards and Warriors. West Branch has taken the last two head-to-head meetings and leads the all-time series 38-22 which includes a 23-7 mark at home. The Warriors have now won 7 out of their last 8 against Louisville on their home court.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Carrollton Warriors on Saturday, January 13. JV will begin at 12:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 1:30 PM.
