Louisville Leopards at SPIRE Institute Boys Basketball 2019 Video Highlights

The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team fell 75-65 in a hard fought game against host SPIRE Institute Tuesday Night in Geneva, Ohio. With the loss, Louisville falls to 11-7 on the season. 

Spencer Hall hit 4 three-pointers and scored a team-high 18 points to lead the Leopards. Jimmy Wright also poured in 11 and Cam King reached double figures with 10.

Louisville led 16-14 at the end of the first before SPIRE scored 27 points in the second to take a 41-36 halftime advantage. SPIRE pulled ahead 64-46 at the end of three, but the Leopards kept fighting.

Louisville hit a road team record 14 three-pointers on the night, which included making 5 in the final quarter alone. The Leopards outscored SPIRE 19-11 in the fourth quarter to trim the final deficit to just 10 points. The 14 three-pointers falls just one short of the team single game record. Louisville hit 15 three-pointers in a 74-64 home victory over visiting New Philadelphia on January 5, 2008.

SPIRE Institute (20-1) was led by Mark “Rocket” Watts who made 7 three-pointers in the first three quarters and cashed in a game-high 32 points. Isaiah Jackson was the only other SPIRE player to reach double figures with 15 and Terry Lockett also added 9.

SPIRE’s only loss on the season was a stunning 94-59 loss to Prolific Prep on January 21. Their 10 point margin of victory over the Leopards in their second smallest as only West Oaks got within single digits in an 86-77 losing effort on December 21. 

This was the first ever meeting between the two programs.
