Louisville Defeats Orrville 21-14 in Final Scrimmage – Football
Louisville 21, Orrville 14
Defense ruled the roost at the start of the scrimmage. The Leopards defense forced a Red Rider punt on the opening drive and the next four possessions between the two teams ended in interceptions. Dan Kennedy grabbed the first interception for Louisville and Grayson Beamer snagged the second for an 18 yard pick six to get LHS on the board. Myles Lab booted home the extra point to make it 7-0 Leopards with 6:17 left to play in the opening quarter.
Louisville’s defense forced another Orrville punt on the ensuing possession. The Leopards special teams came up big in blocking the punt to give LHS the ball back on the Red Rider 30. Two plays later, Quarterback Colton Jones hit Wide Receiver Davis Burick for a 14 yard touchdown strike to make it 14-0 with 10:14 left to play in the second quarter.
The Red Riders knotted the game up with a pair of touchdowns in the final six minutes of the first half. A 23 yard touchdown pass came with 5:49 to go after Orrville also blocked a punt. Then a 28 yard touchdown run on 4th-and-2 with 0:47.9 left tied the game at 14-14
Each team also played out one series in the second half to settle the tie score in game like conditions with the clock running. The Leopards defense slammed the door on the opening possession holding the Red Riders to a 4-and-out. Runningback Connor Adelman scored on an 8 yard touchdown run with 8:11 left in the third quarter to put Louisville ahead 21-14. The scoring play was setup by a 35 yard Jones to Beamer pass completion.
After that score, the clock was turned off and each team played an overtime possession. Leopards Defensive Back Justin Broad ended Orrville’s opportunity with an interception. Louisville scored on the next play, but a 25 yard touchdown run by Adelman was called back via a holding call. The Leopards possession would end with a Red Rider interception in the back of the endzone to conclude the Varsity portion of the scrimmage.
