The Lady Leopards Girls Tennis Team shutout the host New Philadelphia Quakers 5-0 Tuesday. With the win, Louisville stays unbeaten on the young season with a mark of 2-0.
The Leopards won 4 of their 5 matches in straight sets. Rachel Kibler (#1 Singles) and Sherilynn Mullett (#3 Singles) both won their matches a perfect 6-0, 6-0 to lead Louisville. Jo Menegay (#2 Singles) and the #1 Doubles Team of Amanda Plaskett & Jade Thomas also won by near perfect counts of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 respectively.
The most competitive match of the Afternoon came in #2 Doubles. The Leopards duo of Kerstin St. Clair and Carleen Fouts preveiled 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) to clinch the sweep.
This was the first meeting between Louisville and New Philadelphia in girls tennis since 1988. The Lady Leopards are now 9-0 agains the Lady Quakers all-time.
