Wahl Breaks Single Game 3-Point Record as Leopards Down Dukes – Boys Basketball

Grove Appliance Alliance Ohio AdThe Louisville Leopards earned a 69-46 victory against the host Marlington Dukes Friday Night at Marlington High School. With the victory, Louisville improves their overall mark to 6-2 and keeps pace in the NBC with a record of 3-1. 

Brandon Wahl hit a school record 8 three-pointers and poured in a game high 38 points to lead the Leopards. Cam King and Derek Zeller also added 7 points each for LHS.

Louisville Leopards Basketball White Shirt - Beatty's Sports Christmas 2017Wahl opened up the first quarter by hitting 5 three-pointers and scoring 19 points in anchoring Louisville to a 25-17 lead. The pace slowed in the second quarter as the Leopards built a double digit 38-25 advantage by halftime. Wahl scored 4 in the second period and hit a pair of triples in the third quarter for 6 more as Louisville blistered their lead to 51-34 heading into the final period. In the fourth quarter, Wahl tacked on 9 more points as the Leopards outscored the competition 18-12 to seal the game.

Wahl’s 8 made three-pointers eclipses the old school record of 7 set by now Freshman Boys Basketball Coach Owen Gramoy during the 2008-09 season. Gramoy accomplished the feat of hitting 7 triples against 6 different opponents that season. 

The previously NBC unbeaten Dukes (5-2, 4-1) were led by Blane Himmelheber who hit 3 three-pointers in scoring a team-high 14. Other double digit scores for the Dukes included Michael Huberty with 13 and Austin Brady with 10.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the first place Minerva Lions on Tuesday, January 9. JV will begin at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.
