The Louisville Leopards Freshman Football Team fell on the road to the undefeated Lake Blue Streaks 20-16 Thursday Evening at Blue Streaks Stadium. With the loss, Louisville drops to 2-3 on the year.
The Blue Streaks (5-0) controlled the ball on the ground for most of the game in building a commanding 20-0 advantage before the Leopards rallied with back-to-back touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Elsass and Stoffer Score 4th Quarter Touchdowns
Brayden Elsass put Louisville on the board on a two yard touchdown run to begin the rally. The score was setup by a Gabe Stoffer to Elsass screen pass that put the Leopards on the two yard line. Stoffer passed to Luke Seaman for the two-point conversion to get Louisville within 20-8.
The Leopards defense stood strong and Louisville got the ball back. Then Stoffer scored on a razzle-dazzle, Tecmo Super Bowl like 70 yard run to get the Leopards within a touchdown. Stoffer completed the two-point conversion pass to Beau Nezbeth to cut the deficit to 20-16.
Louisville’s defense nearly got a fourth down stop twice, but Lake was able to move the chains enough to run out the clock. Elsass, Owen DiMarzio, Bryce Johnson, and Owen Swope were described as “beasts on defense’ during the game by one Leopard superfan.
