Louisville Falls in Final Seconds at Dover – Freshman Football

The Louisville Leopards Freshman Football Team fell in the final seconds against the host Dover Tornadoes Thursday Evening at Crater Stadium. With the loss, Louisville falls to 3-2-1 on the season.
Jordan Cherry threw a 15 yard touchdown pass to Wide Receiver Chase Mueller with 1:05 left in the fourth quarter to get the Leopards within 20-18. Cherry also ran in the two-point conversion to tie the game at 20-20 soon after that.
Louisville’s rally was short-lived as Dover scored on a 40 yard touchdown pass with just 2.5 seconds remaining in the game to win 27-20.
Earlier the Leopards built a 12-7 advantage on a pair of first half touchdowns. Runningback Andrew Essik scored from a yard out to put Louisville ahead 6-0 in the first quarter. Runningback Brandon Jackson also scored on a 40 yard touchdown pass from Quarterback Charlie Roberts to put LHS in front 12-7 with 2:47 left in the second quarter.
The Tornadoes would score their second touchdown with 15 seconds left before halftime to go into the break up 13-12. They extended their advantage to 20-12 with 6:11 to go in the fourth quarter before the Leopards knotted the game back up five minutes later.
This was Louisville’s first trip to Dover since 2013. Using three onside kick recoveries, the Leopards defeated the Tornadoes 26-16 back on October 24, 2013. Dover has won the last two meetings in the Freshman series after winning 28-7 at Louisville a season ago.
