Leopards Maul Warriors 70-37 – Girls Basketball
Louisville 70, Carrollton 37
The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team mauled the host Carrollton Warriors 70-37 Saturday Afternoon at Carrollton High School. With the victory, Louisville improves to 7-9 on the year.
Sophomore Paige Cole registered a double double with 14 points, a game-high 10 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists to lead the Lady Leopards. LHS had four players reach double figures led by Sophomore Sherilynn Mullett who scored a game-high 18 points to go along with 4 boards. Freshman Kelsey Adelman also scored 11 and Junior Kayla Gibson finished with 10. Gibson also led all players with 5 assists.
Louisville dominated Carrollton in each of the first three quarters. They led 20-5 at the end of the first period, took a 34-14 lead into halftime, and then outscored the Warriors 24-9 in the third quarter to rip open a commanding 58-23 lead into the final period.
The Leopards outshot the opposition 48% (28 of 58) to 28% (11 of 39) from the field. Louisville earned significantly more shot opportunities due to their domination on the boards 33-18, which included doubling up Carrollton 18-9 on the offensive glass. The Leopards also produced 17 steals on defense. Sophomore Sydney Bast matched Cole with a game leading 4 steals. Senior Erin Hahn also recorded 3 steals and Gibson had 2.
Carrollton was led by Abby Laizure who had 2 assists, made 4 three-pointers, and scored a team high 14 points. Chloe Glass also added 7 points and Lucy Pridemore tacked on 5. Josey Burgett was the Warriors leading rebounded with 4 boards.
The win snaps Louisville’s 2-game losing streak against Carrollton as they now lead the all-time series 38-24 overall. This includes a 17-14 record in matchups played in the Black Hole.
