Louisville Claims NBC at Canton South – Boys Freshman Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Boys Freshman Basketball Team cliched the NBC by defeating the host Canton Grove Appliance Alliance Ohio AdSouth Wildcats 59-51 at Charles “Red” Ash Gymnasium Monday Evening. With the victory, Louisville improves to 14-5 overall and stays an unbeaten 10-0 in the NBC.
Both Collin Chambers and Austin Pugh each poured in 15 points to lead the Leopards. Carter Rode also dropped home 10 and Allen Staley scored 8. All four of these Louisville players hit 2 three-pointers each, which proved to be the difference in a game where both teams hit 20 field goals.
In front of a large crowd, the hometown Wildcats stormed out to a 21-15 lead at the end of the first quarter. Canton South also went into the locker room ahead 30-25.

But the Leopards flipped the script in the second half. They outscored the Wildcats 13-9 in the third Beatty’s Sports Louisville Leopards Basketball 2016-17 Hoodiequarter to cut the deficit to 39-38 heading into the final period.
Chambers hit 3 field goals scoring 8 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter. Pugh and Rode also scored 5 each in the final frame. Louisville rallied back to take the lead and outscored Canton South 21-12 in the final seven minutes to take the game…and the league!
“I was proud of how the team responded to adversity throughout the first half,” Leopards Head Coach Austin Shaheen said of his team’s effort. “I saw a group of young men grow up over the second half as we came out on top! That’s gold!”
The Wildcats are now 16-2 after the defeat with both of their losses coming against Louisville. Canton South was led by Ickes who scored game-high 17, T. Mayle who poured in 13, and Patterson who tacked on 9.
