Louisville Suffers 1st Dual Loss at Beaver Local – Wrestling

The Division II #4 state ranked Louisville Leopards Varsity Wrestling Team competed against the host #3 state ranked Beaver Local Beavers Thursday night in a potential Regional Championship match preview. The Beavers took an early lead and never trailed in a 35-27 win over the Leopards. The loss is the first of the season for Louisville in dual meet action as they drop to 8-1 overall.
Brent Paulus (195), Garrett Lautzenheiser (120), and Jax Leonard (152) all won by fall to lead the Leopards. Blake Robbins (220), Cameron Brazek (285), and Davin Rhoads (126) all earned decisions to round out the rest of the Louisville scoring.
Starting at 160, the Beavers won the first three matches to take a 13-0 lead out of the gate. That opening run was led by Brenden Seevers pin in the 170 matchup. The Leopards returned the favor by taking the next 3 matches to trim the Beaver Local advantage to just 13-12.
The Beavers retook command of the match when the lineup reached he lightweight matchups. Jaymin Salsberry (106) and Mark Emmrling (113) registered back-to-back pins to put Beaver Local ahead 25-18. Louisville pulled to within 25-21, but the Beavers sealed the victory with 10 straight points to go ahead 35-21 with only a match remaining.
The two teams could meet again if both advance to the Division II, Region 12 Championship match on February 2 at Alliance High School. The Leopards are the #1 overall seed in that tournament and the Beavers are the #2 seed.
