Connor Zwick Louisville Leopards Vs. West Branch Warriors Football

Video Highlights

Louisville 48, West Branch 0

The Louisville Leopards hit on all cylinders in blanking the host West Branch Warriors 48-0 at Clinton Heacock Stadium Friday. Louisville produced six first half touchdowns en route to a victory that leaves them 6-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

The Minster brothers put the Leopards up 14-0 before you could blink. Andy Minster ran for a 48 yard Beatty's Sports Leopard Skin Grey Hoodietouchdown on a 3rd-and-5 on Louisville’s first drive. Then, after a three-and-out, Frankie Falcone blocked a Warriors punt that was recovered by AJ Minster in the endzone.

Louisville wasn’t finished though. Connor Zwick ran for a 14 yard score to put the Leps up 21-0 at the end of the first quarter. Then the the Leopards added three more touchdowns in the second quarter. Dakota James scored from 2 yards away, Zwick connected with Bryce Mathie for a 33 yard touchdown pass, and Walter Schrock ran 8 yards to pay dirt to give Louisville a 42-0 lead at the break.

In the second half, the Leopards ate up clock with the second string offense. They moved the ball successfully and continued to shutdown West Branch on defense. Jordan Hughes made field goals of 26 and 35 to finalize the score at 48-0.

Zwick finished 5 of 7 passing for 95 yards and also carried the ball 8 times for 89 yards. Schrock finished with 66 rushing yards on 4 attempts and James had 42 yards on 5 carries. Louisville finished with a total of 349 yards rushing on 40 carries from 10 different runners. Kyle Bast led the team in receiving with 2 catches for 43 yards. Andy Minster, Kyle Woost, and Alec Jones all had 2 catches in the receiving game as well.

For the second straight contest, the Leopards defense shutout their opponents. This is the first time Louisville has posted back-to-back shutouts since they defeated Akron Springfield 54-0 and Minerva 28-0 to close the 2004 season. This also marks the first Leopard shutout on the road since they won at Ravenna 28-0 to open the 2009 season.

Louisville’s defense gave up just 106 total yards of offense. West Branch found little success on the ground carrying the ball 30 times for 77 yards and found even less success in their passing attack that finished just 2 of 11 for 29 yards. The Warriors are now 0-6 on the season.

With the victory, Louisville now leads the all-time series over West Branch 22-7 which includes an 11-3 mark on the road. The Leopards have won 13 out of the last 15 in the series overall. This is also the largest margin of victory by any team in the series.
