Leopards Start Strong, but Undefeated Preppers Rally to Win 4-3 – Baseball

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Baseball Team came up just short in a hard-fought 4-3 road loss to the undefeated University School Preppers on Saturday afternoon in Hunting Valley. With the defeat, Louisville falls to 1-4 on the young season.

Leopards Strike First Behind Triplett Two-Run Homer
Louisville got off to a fast start in the top of the first inning. Leadoff hitter Cooper Rice drew a walk and came around to score when Zander Triplett crushed a two-run homer to center field to give the Leopards a 2-0 advantage.
The Leopards added another run in the second inning when Ty Paumier led off with a single and later scored on a line drive base hit to center by Luke Seaman, extending the Louisville lead to 3-0.
Nelson’s Two-Run Homer Completes Preppers’ Comeback
Louisville starting pitcher Tate Aljancic blanked the Preppers through the first three innings, but University School found their groove in the fourth. An RBI single by Bobby Berglund plated Jack Nelson for their first run to trim the Louisville lead to 3-1.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Preppers took the lead for good. James Bucci doubled to lead off the inning, stole third, and came home via a throwing error. Bryce Fielding followed with a double of his own before Deacon Nelson blasted a two-run homer to right field to put University School ahead 4-3.
Rice Finishes a Perfect 3-for-3 for Louisville
The Leopards outhit the Preppers 6-5 for the game. Rice finished a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate to account for half of those hits.
Rice led off the top of the seventh inning with his third single of the afternoon to put the tying run on first base. However, University School reliever Cam Ryan retired the next three Louisville batters to close the game and earn the victory.
Ryan held the Leopards scoreless in the final 3 2/3 innings allowing just two hits and striking out two in earning the victory on the mound. With the win, the Preppers continue their perfect start moving to 8-0 on the campaign.
UP NEXT: The Louisville Baseball Team will next host the Lake Blue Streaks on Tuesday, April 8. Game time is slated for 5:00 PM from Andy Aljancic Field. JV and Freshman will be on the road at Lake at the same time. Freshman and JV will also travel to take on the Canton Central Catholic Crusaders on Monday, April 7 at 5:00 PM.

Louisville Leopards JV 2025 Triumph Over University School Junior Varsity Preppers

Louisville Leopards JV 2025 were triumphant over University School Junior Varsity Preppers 6-4 on Saturday.
University School Junior Varsity Preppers jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Brandon Edmonds scored after tagging up, and Jack Childs grounded out, scoring two runs.
Louisville Leopards JV 2025 tied the game in the bottom of the second thanks to a sacrifice bunt by Josh House, a walk by Talon Zimmerman, and a line out by Brody Stephenson.
An error gave University School Junior Varsity Preppers the lead, 4-3, in the top of the third.
Louisville Leopards JV 2025 captured the lead, 6-4, in the bottom of the sixth when Jacob Roudebush singled, scoring two runs, and Anderson Kandel laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run.
Landyn Fohner earned the win for Louisville Leopards JV 2025. The pitcher surrendered zero hits and zero runs over three and one-third innings, striking out three and walking two. Noah Szczyglowski took the loss for University School Junior Varsity Preppers. The pitcher went four innings, giving up six runs (four earned) on four hits, striking out three and walking three. Stephenson stepped on the mound first for Louisville Leopards JV 2025. The starter allowed six hits and four runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Trip Gaghan led things off on the hill for University School Junior Varsity Preppers. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs over one inning, striking out two and walking none. Zimmerman appeared in relief for Louisville Leopards JV 2025.
Roudebush went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Louisville Leopards JV 2025 in hits. Carter Whitlach, Zimmerman, and Connor Cassidy each stole multiple bases for Louisville Leopards JV 2025. Louisville Leopards JV 2025 ran wild on the base paths, collecting nine stolen bases for the game.
Nolan Wujnovich, Edmonds, Miles Wolf, Nathaniel Pizmoht, Kyle Wilson, and Pleasant each collected one hit for University School Junior Varsity Preppers. Childs and Pleasant each drove in one run for University School Junior Varsity Preppers. Pleasant stole two bases. University School Junior Varsity Preppers stole four bases in the game.
