Springfield at Louisville 1993 Football Highlights
Louisville 24, Springfield 19
In a battle of undefeated squads, the Louisville Leopards prevailed over the visiting Springfield Spartans 24-19 on October 15, 1993.
The Spartans scored a go-ahead touchdown with 39 seconds left in the contest, but an illegal use of hands penalty took the points off the board and pushed Springfield back to the Louisville 14. Three plays later Leopard Defensive End Jeff Hertel sacked Spartans Quarterback Jason Ochs on 4th-and-12 sending the standing-room only Louisville crowd into a frenzy.
Dan Wilson led the offensive attack for the Leopards carrying the ball 24 times for 164 yards and scoring on touchdown runs of 4, 26, and 40. His final dash late in the third quarter proved to be the game-winner. Chris Menegay also ran for 32 yards and scored on a 2 yard touchdown run.
Springfield out-rushed Louisville 302-212 in the game led by runningback Anthony Gary who ran for 191 yards on 29 touches and 2 touchdowns. Ochs scored the only other Spartan touchdown in the fourth quarter. Springfield dropped to 6-1, 3-1 and Louisville improved to 7-0, 4-0.
