The Leopards racked up 297 of their 333 total yards of offense on the ground on September 19, 1992 in a 27-8 win at Salem. Brian Beatty led Louisville with 192 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns.
Chris Menegay’s fumble recovery at the Quaker 37 yard line setup Beatty’s first TD run. However, Salem answered in the second quarter with a touchdown of their own to take an 8-7 lead into the half.
A Bob Burick interception at the beginning of the second half led to an 11 play 70 yard Louisville drive that ended with a 4 yard touchdown run by Beatty. Jon Aljancic ran in the two point conversion immediately after that to give the Leps a 15-7 advantage.
Another third quarter 20 yard touchdown run by Beatty and a 25 yard fourth quarter touchdown run by Dan Wilson put Louisville ahead for good.
The Leopards defense shutout the Quakers for the entire second half to drop Salem to 1-2 on the season. Louisville improved to 3-0 despite losing 5 fumbles in the rain.
