Big Third Inning Leads Louisville Varsity Leopards Past Marlington Varsity Diamond Dukes

Louisville Varsity Leopards defeated Marlington Varsity Diamond Dukes 12-1 on Wednesday thanks in part to seven runs in the third inning. Tate Aljancic singled, scoring two runs, Luke Seaman singled, scoring two runs, Cooper Rice singled, scoring one run, Jake Beard doubled, scoring one run, and Grayson Brunoni singled, scoring one run.
Louisville Varsity Leopards opened the scoring in the first after Beard singled, scoring two runs.
A walk by Rice, and a single by Zander Triplett helped Louisville Varsity Leopards extend their early lead in the second.
Brock Leghart earned the win for Louisville Varsity Leopards. The pitcher allowed three hits and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Parker Woods took the loss for Marlington Varsity Diamond Dukes. The starter went two innings, giving up nine runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking two. Jimi Crilow tossed one inning of shutout ball for Louisville Varsity Leopards in relief. The reliever gave up zero hits, striking out one and walking none.
Louisville Varsity Leopards tallied 14 hits in the game. Beard provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Louisville Varsity Leopards with three runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Beard, Caden Kortis, Triplett, and Cody Zahler each collected two hits for Louisville Varsity Leopards.
Hawthorne, Smith, and Heatherington each collected one hit for Marlington Varsity Diamond Dukes.
Louisville Varsity Leopards will travel to New Philadelphia Varsity Quakers for their next game on Friday.
