Leopards Rally Falls Short in Opener at Crestwood

The Louisville Leopards rally came up short Tuesday evening at Jack Lambert Stadium in Mantua. The host Crestwood Red Devils spoiled the season opener for the Leopards 2-1.

Louisville’s only goal of the contest came when Trevor Burk popped up a pass near the net that Beatty's Sports Hat AdBrennan Seemann headed home to cut the Crestwood lead to 2-1 with 21:42 remaining in the second half.

The Leopards had several other opportunities to tie the contest, but failed to find the net.

Louisville Goalie Austin Terra made several key saves during the contest which included blocked two penalty kicks. However, on the second PK the Red Devils’ Jeremiah Fitzgerald got his own rebound off of Terra’s block and netted it home with 1:44 remaining in the first half.

Crestwood extended their lead to 2-nil via a goal by Austin Usher with 29:06 remaining in the contest. That insurance goal proved to be the difference in the game.

The Red Devils now led the all-time series 4-3-1 and have now taken 2 out of the last 3 matches from the Leopards.
