Leopards Open Season With 5th Man Tie-Breaker Win

The Louisville Leopards Boys Golf team opened up the season with a fifth man tie-breaking victory over the West Branch Warriors Thursday at Skyland Pines.

Louisville and West Branch each shot 174 as a team before the match went into the “overtime” of Beatty's Sports White Polo Adhigh school golf. Both Dan Duplain and Nick Fawver shot a 46 for the fourth and fifth best scores for the Leopards. West Branch’s fifth man shot a 49 and that gave Louisville a three-stroke edge and the match.

The Leopards were led by Domenic Lacernza who shot a 41. Matt Eddins also shot a 43 and Hunter Williams finished with a score of 44.

The win snaps Louisville’s three match losing streak against West Branch and the Leopards have now taken 5 out of the last 7 against the Warriors at home.

LEOPARDS SCORES: Domenic Lacernza 41, Matt Eddins 43, Hunter Williams 44, Dan Duplain 46, Nick Fawver 46. TEAM TOTAL = 174 + 46 = 220

WARRIORS SCORES: Adams 39, Parsons 44, Koy 45, Cutler 46, Fitzpatrick 49.  TEAM TOTAL = 174 + 49 = 223

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Carrollton to take on the Warriors on Friday, August 9 at 1 PM.
