Leopards Ground Aviators on Senior Night 39-28

The Louisville Leopards took down the Alliance Aviators 39-28 Thursday Night at Louisville High School. Gavin Lovejoy, Tristan Roberts, Dakota Oliver, and Todd Bradley provided the pins for the Leopards to help propel them to a Senior Night victory.
On Senior Night, the entire match came down to Junior Todd Bradley. The Leopards had just picked up a huge 6 points when Dakota Oliver (106) pinned Alliance’s Michael Karpil to put Louisville up 33-28. Essentially all Bradley had to do was avoid getting pinned or losing by a technical decision and the Leopards had the match.
Bradley did a lot more than that. He survived a hard-fought first two rounds that saw him and his opponent score one take down each. Then the third round started and Karpil’s Aviator teammates urged him to go for the pin. Karpil went for Bradley’s legs, but the Leopard Junior stood strong. Bradley then outslugged Karpil to earn a take down before flipping him over and getting the pin 5:04 into the match. The Leopards sideline erupted in celebration and Bradley was all smiles
Earlier, Louisville erased deficits of 7-0 and 13-4. Logan O’brien (132), Ray Fitz (152), and Lucas Poyser (160) each won their matches by major decision to help bring the Leopards back. Also, Gavin Lovejoy (145) earned a first round pin against the Aviators Nick Niner 1:22 into the match. Finally, Dale Welsh (170) ran out the clock on the Aviators Donnie Greenmeyer to earn a 6-4 victory and give Louisville a 21-13 lead.
Nathan Changet (182) followed the Leopards 17-0 run by losing a hard fought 7-6 decision to Alliance’s Gary Thomas. But, Tristan Roberts (195) emotionally and physically responded with a solid match that saw him pin Jacob Turney and give the Leopards a 27-16 lead.
The Leopards gave up 12 points to a forfeit and a pin in the two highest weight classes and Alliance held a slim 28-27 lead. But, Oliver and Bradley finished strong to send the Leopards to their second straight victory. Louisville finishes the regular season 10-5 and 4-3 in the NBC.
