The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team took care of business against the visiting Canton Beatty's Sports Grey Hoodie - Winter 2017South Wildcats winning 81-58 Tuesday Night at LHS. Then, they stunningly found themselves alone in first place atop the NBC Standings after both Marlington and Minerva fell on the road. With the win, Louisville improves to 6-4 overall and is now 5-1 in the NBC.

Chris Libertore and Brandon Wahl combined for over half of the Leopards points during the contest. Libertore finished with a game-high 24 and Wahl also poured in 23. The pair also combined for 9 of Louisville’s 11 three-pointers during the game with Wahl scorching the nets for a team-leading 5.

The Leopards scored the first 13 points of the contest and never looked back. Louisville led 21-6 through the first 8 minutes and made several substitutions in the second quarter after leading by as much as 29-8. This enabled the Wildcats to have their most successful quarter in outscoring the Leopards 24-23 in the second period.

Louisville edged Canton South in each of the final two quarters to win the second half 37-28 and pick up the league victory. Eleven different Leopards scored during the game including Jared Mathie with 6 and Davis Burick with 5.

The Wildcats were led by Silas Snyder who scored a team-high 15 and hit Canton South’s only 2 three-pointers. Chris Fontes also dropped home 13 and Jared Perez added 7. The Wildcats fall to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the NBC with the loss.

With the victory, Louisville has now won 4 out of their last 5 against Canton South overall and the last 4 in the series at LHS. The Leopards still trail the Wildcats in the all-time series 49-95 dating back to 1933.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Carrollton to take on the Warriors on Friday, January 13. JV will tip at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.

The Leopards JV Team earned a convincing 67-44 home victory against the Wildcats Tuesday Evening at LHS. With the victory, Louisville improves to 8-2 overall and remains undefeated in league play at 6-0.

Eleven different Leopards players scored during the contest led by Kaleb McCartney who poured in a game-high 15 points. Other double digit scorers for Louisville included Jimmy Wright 11, Colton Jones 10, and Cameron King 10.

The Leopards held an 11-2 advantage in three-pointers made, which proved to be the difference in the game. McCartney & Wright hit 3 a piece, Jones & King also made 2 each, and Jonah Maracek who hit an NBA-range downtown shot late in the fourth quarter!

Canton South was led by Myles Martin who scored a team-high 13. Seantarius Blackmon and Jarod Dunn also scored 8 each for the Wildcats.
