Leopards Alone in 1st After Dissolving Wildcats – Boys Basketball
Louisville 81, Canton South 58
The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team took care of business against the visiting Canton South Wildcats winning 81-58 Tuesday Night at LHS. Then, they stunningly found themselves alone in first place atop the NBC Standings after both Marlington and Minerva fell on the road. With the win, Louisville improves to 6-4 overall and is now 5-1 in the NBC.
Chris Libertore and Brandon Wahl combined for over half of the Leopards points during the contest. Libertore finished with a game-high 24 and Wahl also poured in 23. The pair also combined for 9 of Louisville’s 11 three-pointers during the game with Wahl scorching the nets for a team-leading 5.
The Leopards scored the first 13 points of the contest and never looked back. Louisville led 21-6 through the first 8 minutes and made several substitutions in the second quarter after leading by as much as 29-8. This enabled the Wildcats to have their most successful quarter in outscoring the Leopards 24-23 in the second period.

Louisville edged Canton South in each of the final two quarters to win the second half 37-28 and pick up the league victory. Eleven different Leopards scored during the game including Jared Mathie with 6 and Davis Burick with 5.
The Wildcats were led by Silas Snyder who scored a team-high 15 and hit Canton South’s only 2 three-pointers. Chris Fontes also dropped home 13 and Jared Perez added 7. The Wildcats fall to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the NBC with the loss.
With the victory, Louisville has now won 4 out of their last 5 against Canton South overall and the last 4 in the series at LHS. The Leopards still trail the Wildcats in the all-time series 49-95 dating back to 1933.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Carrollton to take on the Warriors on Friday, January 13. JV will tip at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.
