Orrville 10, Louisville 7

The Louisville Leopards football squad traveled to Orrville Friday evening to take on the Red Riders in a two quarter scrimmage. Cole Duskey’s 32 yard field goal with 50.5 seconds remaining proved to be the difference in lifting the Red Riders 10-7.

The Leopards offense produced a touchdown on the opening drive of the contest. Quarterback Connor Beatty's Sports Leopard Skin Grey HoodieZwick hit Andy Minster for a first down on third down to open the drive. Zwick then scampered for a 22 yard run to take the ball into Red Rider territory two plays later. Several plays after that Zwick hit Minster again for a 12 yard touchdown pass to cap an 80 yard, 4:45 drive. Jordan Hughes extra point split the uprights to give Louisville a 7-0 lead.

On Orrville’s first offensive play, runningback Keontae Owens ran around the right side for a 17 yard gain. However, the Leps defense took over after that. Frankie Falcone nearly forced a fumble and Zach Shea stormed in for a sack to halt the Red Riders.

The Leopards next offensive drive ended immediately when Orrville Linebacker Trevor Summers intercepted a pass and ran it back 32 yards to the Leopards 3. Two plays later Summers plowed into the endzone to knot the game at 7-7.

After a few possessions, the Red Riders faced a 2nd-and-26 from their own 34. Orrville Quarterback Luke Smith found Summers for a 58 yard pass play all the way to the Louisville 8. However, several Orrville penalties backed them up to a 1st-And-Goal situation from the Leopard 21. The drive would end with Joe Crank picking off a pass in the endzone on third down.

After a scoreless Louisville drive, Orrville drove the ball 44 yards to the Leopards 16 in 2:41. That’s where Duskey’s kick would give the Red Riders the scrimmage 10-7.
