Lake Rock’em Relays
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Track and Field Teams competed at the Lake Rock’em Relays Friday night at Blue Streaks Stadium. The Louisville Boys scored 23 points to finish fifth out of 6 competing schools. The Lady Leopards tallied 9 points to also take fifth place.

As the races began, so did the rain. The Lady Leopards did not let the poor weather conditions deter their efforts. The first race of the day saw Kylah Meyer and Amelie Anderson run 5,000 meters. At the conclusion of this 12.5 lap race Meyer crossed the line in 17:44.9 gaining the win and Anderson ran 18:54.9 earning her a third place finish. Due to this being the first time a Louisville athlete has run a 5K on the track the girls’ times will rank them 1 and 2 in school history. Leaving two outstanding marks for our future Leopards to chase.
The shuttle hurdle team of Reese Riley, Izzy Manko, Addie Brown and Joslyn Cross also finished fifth. Next up was the 4 x 800 relay. The team of Nora Kiko, Maddy Bailey, Stella Blommel and Peyton Novosel placed 2nd. Kiko highlighted the team with a personal best split of 2:33. Folk returned to the track with Haley Samuels, Rode, and Manko to run the 4 x 200 placing 5th. Stella Blommel, Gianna Pederzolli,Maddy Bailey and Camryn Cline ran the Distance Medley placing 5th. This race saw Camryn Cline run a personal best time of 5:57 in the 1600 meter portion of the race. During the 4 x 100 the rain paused for a moment allowing Britzman, Manko, Rode and Salmons an opportunity to run a season best time of 55.50 earning them a 4th place finish. The final race of the day was a mixed relay of girls and boys. As this race began the the wind picked up and the rain started once again. The quartet of Reese Riley, Peyton Novosel, Caison Grimm and Gianni Faiello 4:09.54 placing the team 4th.

The girls track team traveled to Lake High School to compete in the Rock’em Relays. This meet was a relay format with all races contested as relays, with the exception of the 5,000 meter run.
As the rain continued the field events began. The trio of Lilly McQuade, McKynzee Riley and Abby Vargo combined the throw 150’ 10”. McQuade paced the team with a throw of 70’ 3”. In the high jump Khali Miller, Bailey Cole and Gianna Pederzolli placed 4th with Miller leading the way with a season best of 4’ 6”. The Shot Put team finished in 5th with a combined distance of 70’ 2”. Mickey Solmons threw 24’ 6.5” feet to lead this group. The Long Jump team of Izzy Manko, Haile Folk and Sarah Cleckner placed third.. Izzy Manko led the team with a jump of 14’ 10.25”. Due to the rain the Pole Vault was cancelled.
As we looked to the sky hoping for a pause in the rain, our wishes were granted in small spurts but as the rain continued to fall so did the temperatures. The sprint medley team of Haile Folk, Savannah Britzman, Kensington Rode and Olivia Roberts finished 5th.
The team will be back in action on Tuesday when they play host to Warren Howland. Let’s hope the forecast is wrong and these ladies will have a chance to run in drier conditions.
