Lady Leps Clinch Share of NBC, Will Play for Outright Title

Louisville 57, Carrollton 38

For the fourth time in six years the Louisville Lady Leopards girls basketball team has clinched at least a share of the NBC Title.  The Lady Leps (16-2, 11-2) crushed the Carrollton Warriors (7-11, 5-8) Monday night 57-38 in rout to the title.  Alyssa Jones led Louisville with 13 points, while Lauren Bricker dropped in 11, and Desi Givens added 10.

Just like at Marlington, Louisville got off to quick start in taking a 12-4 lead after the first quarter.  They extended their lead to 28-15 at the break and outscored Carrollton 19-10 in the third quarter.  Jones scored all of 13 of her points in the period.  Louisville had leads of 22 or more in the fourth quarter, before they cruised to the 19 point victory.

For the second time this year, Louisville held Carrollton to just 38 points.  A large part of the Lady Leps success was getting to the free throw line where they shot 19-of-28.  Brianna Libertore was a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe and finished with 9 points as well.

Louisville clinched a share of the league virtue of the Minerva Lions (13-4, 10-3) crushing the West Branch Warriors (12-5, 10-3) 42-26.  All that stands in the way of Louisville winning the Northeastern Buckeye Conference outright is the Canton South Wildcats (2-15, 2-10) at home this Wednesday.  The Lady Leopards defeated the Wildcats at Canton South 65-44 on January 8.
