Lacrosse Punches Ticket to State, Ousts Ottawa Hills

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Lacrosse Team punched their ticket to State with a 19-9 win over the visiting Ottawa Hills Green Bears in the Third Round of the OHSLA Club Division Tournament Wednesday at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville improves to 10-3 on the season and advances to face the Defending State Champion & #1 ranked Lebanon Warriors on Friday, May 29 at 5:30 PM in the State Semifinals at Olentangy High School.

Jared Holland tied his own school record by scoring 6 goals and also adding a pair of assists to lead the Leopards. Jake Mathie also poured in 5 goals & added 2 assists and Austin Terra tallied a Hat Track for Louisville.

The Green Bears went ahead 4-2 before Holland scored twice in the final 26 seconds of the first quarter to knot the game. Ottawa Hills again took the lead by scoring the first three goals of the second quarter and taking a 7-4 advantage.

The Leopards answered back by scoring the next 8 goals and shutting out the Green Bears over a span of 24:26. They went ahead 8-7 at the break and outscored Ottawa Hills 4-0 in the third quarter. Louisville would go on to score 7 more times in the fourth quarter to finish with a season-high 19 goals.

Zach Frank and Mark Soehnlen each scored twice and Joe Davide also went coast-to-coast to round out the scoring for the Leopards. Louis Keller and Soehnlen also each contributed an assist. Louisville finished by scoring 15 out of the final 17 goals in the game.

The Leopards will take on the top-ranked Warriors of Lebanon Friday. Lebanon defeated Chardon 16-2 Wednesday to return to State for the second straight season. They defeated Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas 12-9 in the State Semifinals last year before taking the State Title over Bellbrook 17-14.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next take on the Defending State Champion & #1 ranked Lebanon Warriors Winner in the OHSLA Club Division Tournament State Semifinals on Friday, May 29 at 5:30 PM at Olentangy Orange High School in Lewis Center, Ohio.
