Leopards Can’t Hold Back Rough Riders in Second Half, Fall 12-7 – Boys Lacrosse

The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team fell to the visiting Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders 12-7 Saturday at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With its third straight loss, Louisville drops to 5-8 on the season.

Coy and Daum Both Score Twice for Leopards
Keegan Coy and Parker Daum each scored a pair of goals to lead the Leopards. Daum also posted a game-best 3 assists.
Daum opened Louisville’s scoring in the first quarter off an assist from Dillyn Decost to tie the game at 1-1. Decost then scored unassisted down the middle to give the Leopards their first lead, and Mason Warner followed off a feed from Daum to put Louisville up 3-1.
Kent Roosevelt answered with three straight goals to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead. Isaac Johnson struck back just eight seconds later, winning the ensuing faceoff and storming to the net to knot the game at 4-4 with 8:37 left.
After the Rough Riders built a 6-4 advantage, Coy scored twice off assists from Daum in the final 3:40 of the half to knot the game at 6-6 entering the break.
Kent Roosevelt Takes Control with Six Straight Goals
The turning point came when Kent Roosevelt held Louisville scoreless for over 24 minutes while stringing together six unanswered second-half goals.
Chase Bell started the surge with an unassisted goal early in the third quarter. Holden Morris and King Milton followed with goals later in the period, both assisted by Rocco Yensel. Then Bell capped the quarter with his fourth goal via an assist from Morris to give the Rough Riders a 10-6 lead heading into the fourth.
Bell added his fifth goal of the game in the fourth quarter off an assist from Milton, and Milton later scored off a pass from Kellen Obraza to stretch the Kent Roosevelt lead to 12-6.
Daum scored an unassisted goal with 21 seconds left in the contest to snap Louisville’s 24:45 scoring drought.
Bell’s Five Goals Pace Rough Riders
Bell finished with a game-high 5 goals and 1 assist to lead Kent Roosevelt. Holden Morris and King Milton each registered hat tricks, scoring 3 goals and 2 assists each. Avery Stoffer also scored a second quarter goal via Nathan Barber, who matched Yensel with a team-high 2 assists.
The Rough Riders have now won three of their last four, improving to 5-3 with the victory.
Louisville Vs. Kent Roosevelt Boys Lacrosse Series
Kent Roosevelt has won the last two meetings in the series after Louisville won the two prior to that. The Leopards are 2-8 against the Rough Riders all-time, which includes a 1-5 record when playing at Louisville Leopards Stadium.
