JV Football Blanks Minerva in 36-0 Mercying
Louisville 36, Minerva 0
The Louisville Leopards JV Football Team blanked the visiting Minerva Lions 36-0 Saturday Morning at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the win, Louisville improves to 3-2 overall and remains a perfect 3-0 against NBC foes.
Gavin Birone and Sean McKinney each scored two touchdowns to lead the Leopards. Birone caught two second quarter touchdown passes. The first was a 10 yard reception on 3rd-and-8 from Quarterback Trent Degenhard and the second was a 79 yard bomb from Quarterback Jack Davis.
McKinney also caught a 26 yard touchdown pass from Degenhard to open the scoring in the first quarter and later found the endzone from two yards away. If you include his 40 yard touchdown run in Friday’s Varsity game, McKinney had a 3 touchdown weekend for Louisville.
Runningback BJ Singer also broke free for a 55 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter and ran in 3 two-point conversions. Singer also forced a fumble on a Minerva kick return that was recovered by Michael Seaman.
The Leopards scored 22 points in the second quarter to build a 30-0 halftime lead. Louisville’s opening second half drive lasted 14:04 courtesy of the running clock. Runningback Dylan Walczak had several hard first down runs to keep Leopard drives alive all game long.
On defense, Casey Curlutu & Willie Oliver sandwich a Lions ball carrier in forcing a fumble early on. Justin Vanover fell on it at the Minerva 40 to setup the Leopards first score six plays later. Drew Doerschuk and Sam DeDomincis also recorded sacks for Louisville.
The closest the Lions got to scoring was the Leopards 44 on the final play of the contest.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Marlington to take on the Dukes on Saturday, October 3 at 10:00 AM.
